The Sahibganj Old Xaverians’ Association (SOXA) began 2025 with renewed purpose and dynamic leadership following the Executive Committee elections held on 8th December 2024.
Reverend Father Arul Doss SJ serves as the ex officio President of SOXA. Dr. Sumit Kumar was elected Secretary, joined by Dr. Santosh Kumar Choudhary as Vice President, and Mr. Sanjeet Suman as Treasurer. Other key members include Mr. Aman Kumar, Mr. Deep Narayan Singh, Mr. Sunit Shroff, Mr. Sneh Shankar, Mr. Vivek Bharti, Mr. Arindam Chakraborty, and Miss Shruti Soren. Together, they brought energy, vision, and a commitment to social welfare.
EVENTS
1. Blanket Distribution Drive
The year began with a Blanket Distribution Drive on 13th and 14th January at Sahibganj Railway Station and Ghat Line Road. This initiative offered warmth and relief to the underprivileged during the harsh winter.
2. Free Eye Check-up Camps
To promote eye health, SOXA organized three Free Eye Camps on 18th January, 26th April, and 21st June 2025, in collaboration with Sunetra Family Eye Care Centre. Over 220 students received free check-ups, medicines, and spectacles, raising awareness about vision care.
3. Free Health Camps
On 27th February at Kadma Banjhi Bazar and 24th May at Satia, Pakur, SOXA conducted Health Camps in association with Surya Super Speciality Hospital. Services included check-ups, diagnostic tests, and free medicines. Many chronic conditions were identified and referred for further care.
4. Life-Changing Surgeries Sponsored
A significant achievement was SOXA’s partnership with Surya Super Speciality Hospital, which sponsored four life-changing surgeries completely free of cost. Performed by renowned Urologist Dr. Sumit Kumar, Assistant Director of Surya Hospital and SOXA Secretary, the surgeries—worth approximately ₹1.6 lakhs—were provided to patients identified during health camps.
5. Food Distribution Drive
On 13th March, SOXA organized a Food Distribution Drive for differently-abled students and elderly citizens. Over 100 beneficiaries, including children from a local deaf and dumb school and residents of an old age home, received nutritious meals in a heartwarming gesture of care.
6. Holi Milan Celebration
To celebrate unity and tradition, a Grand Holi Milan was hosted on 9th March at St. Xavier’s School, Sahibganj. Alumni and teachers came together for cultural performances and joyful reunions, strengthening community bonds.
These initiatives highlight SOXA’s enduring dedication to service, compassion, and community welfare. With visionary leadership and active alumni support, SOXA continues to bring positive change to Sahibganj and beyond.
