We salute with reverence Rev Dr. S. Ignachimuthu SJ, who is ranked amongst the world’s top 1% scientist in Biology. One insect species jacthrips ignachimuthu and one natural molecule Ignacimuthu is named after him.

Rev Dr. S.Ignachimuthu was the former Principal of St. Xavier’s Tirunnelveli, Loyola College Chennai and former Vice-Chancellor of Bharathiyar and Madras University.

Hearty congratulations to Rev Dr S. Ignachimuthu for being awarded with:-
1. St. Peter Canisius Award that was given by the International Association of Jesuit Universities in the Boston Conference that was held on 3-6 August, 2022 to appreciate his admirable and mighty contribution to the field of higher education as a Jesuit. The award was given by Rev. Fr. Arturo Sosa, S.J., Superior General of the Society of Jesus.
2. Further Rev.Dr.S. Ignachimuthu SJ was also awarded with Dr. Abdul Kalam Award that was given to him by the Government of Tamilnadu for spreading science to the whole world. He received it from the honourable Chief Minister on 15th August 2022 during the Independence Day celebrations in Chennai.
