Students receive valuable inputs in school which mold their intelligence, character, discipline . . These inputs make great foundation to make them successful in life & their chosen career. Many are moved to give back something to their Alma Mater in gratitude.

One such story is of the two Kothari brothers - Rajendra (batch of 1973) & Ashok (batch of 1975), who coordinated with the Principal & decided to sponsor the project of refurbishing the Secondary Computer Lab. So they also helped supervise vendors to make new furniture, wood panelling, concealed wiring and providing of 60 latest LENOVO computers for the Lab.

They dedicated this to their late father - Mr.Khupchand Kothari who was also a Vincentian.

On July 29th, 2022, our institution joyously celebrated the Ignatius Feast, a day filled with artistic brilliance and heartfelt appreciation for the Ignatian theme. The event commenced with an Inter-house and inter-class notice board competition, where our students' enthusiasm and creativity shone brightly, fostering an inspiring atmosphere. In solidarity with those affected by the recent riots in Manipur, the Ignatian Celebrations were held on a modest and low key scale.

The highlight of the celebrations, organised by St. Paul’s P.U.College, was the Thanksgiving Eucharist at Fatima Cathedral, centered around "Finding God in All Things" on 31st July 2023. Led by Fr. Simon Fernandes SJ, Rector & Manager of St. Paul's Institutions, Belagavi, the Eucharist was graced by the presence of the Jesuits from St. Paul's Community and Fatima Cathedral, Belagavi as con-celebrants.

Today 31st July is the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus. Its members are called Jesuits. I am one of them.

On this auspicious day of 31st July 2023 at 6.45 am at the Health Care, Xavier Residence, Alto Porvorim, Goa, Fr. Leslie Francis (10 .02.1931- 31.07.2023), decided to join St. Ignatius and his Jesuit colleagues in heaven. He was 92 years young and the senior most Jesuit of Goa Province. The first official meeting of alumni at St. John Berchman's School, Mundli, Tinpahar, was a momentous occasion, signifying a remarkable milestone in the school's rich history. Established in 1939 as a Hindi medium school nestled in the scenic Rajmahal Hills of Jharkhand, India, the institution has always held a special place in the hearts of its primarily tribal students.

The roots of the school can be traced back to the early 20th century when Jesuit missionaries arrived in the Rajmahal Hills. From its modest beginnings as a mission school, it has grown into one of the district's most esteemed vernacular schools, renowned for its exceptional education.

At the core of St. John Berchman's School lies an unwavering commitment to providing top-notch education to the marginalized. It serves as a beacon of hope and a valuable asset to the community, instilling immense pride in its members and embodying the Jesuit mission's dedication to serving the underprivileged.

St. Mary's School Chiro Nagesia tribal kids, one at school assembly and one of kids in class. The new hostel for girls is a great boost to the Nagesia girls, gives them a feeling of self worth, now living in a first class building.

The Nagesias, as you probably know, are a very small tribe, number wise, but in fact the kids are very clever, and those who pass class 8 in our school in Chiro, go on, helped by tribal scholarships, to our High School in Mahuadanr in the valley below Chiro, and some go on to become teachers, nurses.

Because of the poverty of the parents, they cannot pay sufficient fees to support the running costs of the school in Chiro so we depend on generous benefactors, any little helps.

Very best wishes,
Bob Slattery s.j.
