Morning
09.30 Opening Celebration of Mass by Mgr Evariste NGOYAGOYE,
Archbishop of Bujumbura possibly assisted by the Archbishop of Bukavu in
Congo (alumnus of the jesuit school Alfajiri).
11.00 Welcome by the
president of the alumni association of Burundi). Opening of the
Congress by the President of the World Union. Presentations by official
invitees.
Lunch at Kiriri Campus

-meeting of the outgoing Council of the World Union

2nd
Day : Friday 24 July

the College/Lycée of St Esprit de Gihosha)
Theme
of the day : « For a better Africa, what have we done?
What are we doing? »
Morning
Introduction to the theme by Frs Muhigirwa and Minani from CEPAS (Centre
of Study for Social Action) of Kinshasa ( in French ).
Half hour break
Discussion in small groups (of same language)
Lunch at the college
Displays in the corridors of the College of the initiatives taken by the
different associations.
Afternoon
Panel with
presentations by four French speaking witnesses of which one non-African
(20 minutes per witness). Suggestions : :
-Presentation
by ISTAC (Institute of Engineering of Cameroon, Douala)
-Presentation
by the Faculty of Social Science and Management of UCAC (Catholic
university
of Central Africa in Yaounde (Cameroon)
-Presentation
by the first school of Tchad « Faith & Joy »

Cultural evening led by a group from Bukavu.
3rd

-Report on the « spiritual experiences » of the young alumni/ae.
-Presentations of four English speaking witnesses of which one
non-African . Proposals for this
panel :
Action against AIDS by the Jesuit Centre for
Theological Studies of Lusaka (Zambia).
Involvement in the Social field by
the association of Alumni/ae of Tanzania.
An activity from Nigeria
JRS project in the Great Lakes region.

Evening free
4th
Day: Sunday 26 July
Theme of the day: « What must we do? »
Morning
The message from Fr General. (He could present the major
issues of the Society’s mission in Africa with suggestions on how the
Alumni/ae can collaborate on this.
Break
Reflections in small groups (the same as before) on Fr General’s
message. At the end of this session, bring together the
conclusions of these reflections. Submit these conclusions to the
Congress secretariat which will request a small team to produce a
summary.

Day: Monday 27 July
Morning
09.00 Statutory General Assembly of the World Union primarily charged
with the election of the new Council of the World Union, to decide on
the location of the next Congress (in Latin America) and to
adopt the resolutions of the Congress.

-For other Congress participants : free morning or
organised visits

Presentation of the results of the Statutory General Assembly
to all participants of the Congress.

Departure
PRE-CONGRESS PROGRAMME FOR THE YOUNG ALUMNI/AE:
The
Congress programme must include the proposition of an « » of 8-10 days
duration preceding the Congress. (« spiritual experiences » which can
take place either in Burundi or in the region of Bukavu in Congo).For
the preparation of these « spiritual experiences », Fr Ignace Samulenzi,
Rector of the College of the Holy Spirit, and Mr Gregoire
Banyiyezako, Président of ABAJ, have designated three
young alumni/ae of the college who, with Jean-Paul Mukunzi, scholastic
of the college, will make make contact with two young alumni/ae from
Europe and whose e-mail details will be made available by Pierre
Salembier. This small group will be charged with putting together a
programme likely to be of interest to young alumni/ae coming for the
Congress. This project will then be submitted to the executive committee
of ABAJ.
